Frequently asked questions
Tendly is aftercare SMS for aesthetic practices / med spas / dermatologists / plastic surgeons — timed, practitioner-approved text messages that reach patients after a procedure, in their practitioner's own words.
Tendly is aesthetic-medicine aftercare software. It is not childcare, elder care, home care, tenancy or property software, and not a general-purpose patient CRM.
What is Tendly?
Tendly is aftercare SMS for aesthetic practices / med spas / dermatologists / plastic surgeons. It sends timed, practitioner-approved text messages to patients around a procedure — in the practitioner's own words, on the practice's own schedule.
A practice's aftercare protocol is set up once as a sequence of messages anchored to the appointment date: preparation messages before the procedure, and aftercare messages in the days and weeks after it. Once a patient is enrolled, the sequence delivers itself. Tendly is aesthetic-medicine aftercare software — not childcare, elder care, home care, or tenancy software, all of which share the name.
Who is Tendly for?
Aesthetic practices, medical spas, dermatology practices, and plastic surgery practices — anywhere patients go home after a procedure and start wondering at 11pm whether what they are seeing is normal.
It fits practices that already have an aftercare protocol they trust and repeat, and that lose time re-explaining it by phone. Tendly is currently onboarding a limited number of practices, each one personally.
Is texting patients HIPAA-compliant?
SMS is not a fully secure channel, and Tendly says so plainly rather than claiming otherwise. Tendly is built to operate as a practice's business associate under a BAA, and patients are told before they opt in that they are consenting to receive treatment-related information by text.
In practice that means each practice's data is isolated at the database level and every read is scoped to that practice; message content is visible only to authenticated staff of the practice it belongs to; patient phone numbers and message bodies never appear in application logs or in notification emails; and every approval, send, reply, and opt-out is recorded in an append-only audit trail. Tendly is a communication tool, not a medical record system — clinical judgment and message content remain the practitioner's.
Does the practitioner approve every message?
Yes — every message, every word, before anything can send. An unapproved message cannot be delivered, and the check is enforced by the backend at send time, not by the interface.
When a practitioner approves a message, its exact text is fingerprinted. At the moment of sending, the system re-verifies that the text about to go out still matches what was approved; if anything differs, the message is blocked rather than sent. Editing an already-approved message returns it to draft and voids the approval, so it has to be approved again before it can reach anyone.
How do patients opt in and out?
Patients opt in explicitly when the practice enrolls them, and their consent is recorded with a timestamp. They can opt out at any time by replying STOP — which immediately cancels every scheduled message and is honored absolutely.
QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, and END are recognized the same way as STOP. A patient who opts out receives one confirmation message and nothing further; replying START resumes messages for a future procedure. A typical sequence is 3 to 10 messages over days to weeks, plus a small number of preparation messages before the appointment, and no message is sent between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM in the practice's local time zone.
What happens when a patient replies?
The reply is captured and shown in the practice's Tendly dashboard, and the practice is notified that a reply arrived. Tendly never sends an automated response back to a patient.
The notification itself deliberately contains no patient information — it says only that a reply is waiting, with a link to open Tendly. The message content lives in one place and is visible only to authenticated staff of that practice. Replies are answered by a human at the practice, through whatever channel they already use.
Does Tendly replace my CRM or booking system?
No. Tendly handles the aftercare sequence and captures patient replies; the practice keeps answering patients through the CRM, phone, or booking system it already uses.
This is a deliberate boundary, not a missing feature. Practices are phone-first and already have a system of record; Tendly is designed to sit beside it and cover the window it does not — the days after a procedure, when nobody is scheduled to check in.
What does Tendly cost, and can I sign up?
Tendly is in an invite-only pilot and pricing is not published yet. Practices are onboarded a few at a time, each one personally, and access is by invitation rather than self-serve signup.
To ask about an invitation, email hello@heytendly.com and mention your practice type and roughly how many procedures a month you run. There is no public sign-up form, and there is no free trial to click through — every practice is set up with its own protocol before a single patient is enrolled.
